~keeping faith & family close to heart in a modern world~

praying in old catholic church

“As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, my home is by Your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They never cease to praise You.

Blessed the man who finds refuge in you, in their hearts are pilgrim roads. As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. The early rain covers it with blessings. They will go from strength to strength and see the God of gods on Zion.

LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach.”

PROmoting & PROtecting Human LIFE has to be the Golden Standard

LOVE coming across these types of people – he gets IT.

The part of the Pro-Life agenda where most supporters say they believe in exceptions allowing a baby to be killed in the womb… Is that just something we’ve been trained to say to Pro-Choicers in an attempt to save a little face?

I’ve always been on the side of Pro-Life and, up until about 5 years ago, would also spat out the belief in EXCEPTIONS, mind-numbingly regurgitating what I had heard plenty of Pro-Lifers state before me.
Then it hit me.

Like, really HIT me…

It may sound ironically “unhumanitarian” to insist that a woman, who is subject to non-consensual sex resulting in pregnancy, carry out her pregnancy to term when she may also be dealing with the mental and emotional (or physical) traumas of the unwanted assault.

I am not ignorant to the potential mental state of this kind of victim. But, once the pregnancy exists and a separate little life begins to be nurtured, the priority of protecting and keeping that unborn baby’s life (and it’s very right to it) far outweighs the assault victim’s (& new mother‘s) potential mental scars inherited from the action.

Put more simply, the emotional distress that would surely follow being raped should not, and cannot, be prioritized over protecting the NEW LIFE that now grows within her.

One day, it hit me… a โ€œno-exceptionsโ€ mindset…

when the CHOICE to respect ALL human life truly begins.

Baby does not know HOW she came to be, just that she IS.

Her โ™ฅ๏ธ beats to the same rhythm as her mama,

same as her 3 yr old brotherโ€ฆ

holds the same electrical โ€œcurrentโ€ as her 90 yr old neighbor

&& the man who lives out a life sentence behind bars.

๐Ÿ”† The breath of life breathed her into existence at the very same moment that yours and mine also began.

What a miraculous design, this LIFE at conception ๐Ÿค

The core M.O. in being Pro-LIFE is โ€œpromoting LIFEโ€.

Scientifically, we know life begins at conception. Which would mean abortion at any stage throughout pregnancy is the act of killing that baby; murdering, crushing, slaughtering, or dismembering an innocent little life for the purpose of separating & removing the ONCE-LIVING human baby from the very source of itโ€™s developmental nourishment.

Exceptions to the Rule?

Now, think about implementing an abortion-ban where exceptions are made in cases of rape or incest

How does one even get close to a conclusion in which a baby conceived from a violent or nonconsensual act has any less value than a baby conceived from a loving, marital relationship??

The two newly formed lives are the same, are they not? The process of growth and development that takes place at conception in either of those scenarios is the same…

So, why do we place any less value on the baby conceived from rape or incest by allowing that little one to be killed and ripped from her mother’s warm, nourishing womb??

Answer: Exceptions for rape & incest ARE NOT rational solutions in a community that truly respects and protects all human life.

Where the action of abortion itself is an extremely chilling thought and shouldnโ€™t be legally offered at all, I recently heard this point from a local priest:

Do not simply pray for an end to abortion; preventing access to legal abortions isnโ€™t going to fix the โ€œheartโ€ problem running rampant in our communities. Pray, instead, for the changing of hearts so that the immoral act of abortion is no longer needed.โ€

I was a smidge resistant to this when I first heard it – my pride wanted abortion GONE now and thatโ€™s exactly what I wanted to petition the Lord withโ€ฆ

The world is not yet ready for such a drastic change so Iโ€™ll continue on – thanking the Lord for whatโ€™s been accomplished in recent years moving us closer to protecting all life. Then I pray that he would continue to soften the hearts of the people in our nation – and the world- towards respecting human life in all its forms, specifically from conception through natural death.

One last itty bitty thing I want to share is a prayer โ€œfor the helpless unbornโ€ that I found on Pinterest a couple years ago. Itโ€™s been laminated and stuffed into my Mom Heart Moments devotional as a page keeper. I keep it there so I remember to take time intentionally to pray for those innocent babies each day before starting on the devotion.
