This year, for the first time, my little family celebrated the Feast of St. Martin of Tours.
Our parish hosted the evening festival, which began with a quick prayer and Gospel reading by Father Aaron.
The โprocessionโ followed casually as families walked with their homemade lanterns along the outside of the church grounds and ended in one of the parking lots.
Lastly, we mingled as one community united by the Lord; bonfire, cookies & snacks, and warm drinks sure did their job of keeping all our spirits up. ๐คโ๏ธ๐ฏ๏ธ๐๐ช
โMany aspects of the life of St. Martin de Tours serve as an example for us. We canโt tell with certainty the year he was born 1700 years ago, but it was most likely 316 or 317 in the roman province of Pannania, in todayโs Hungary. From early on the young Saint Martin went against the grain giving a testimony of Jesus that spread to those around him, giving us an example of how to act in an environment in which we have to fight for our beliefs.โ
