Fr. Mike Schmitz: Homily for the LOST
Father Mike Schmitz puts out Sunday homilies on Apple Podcasts, among other platforms I’m sure. You may know him for his podcast series “Bible in a Year” and now has a newer series that works through the Catechism in a year. I’m extra excited to get started on the Catechism series!
I have a short prayer then on to a few simple notes from Fr.
{Action Kills} Anxiety:
โข over-estimation of the DANGER โ ๏ธ
โข under-estimation of our ability to COPE ๐๏ธ with an outcome
Anxiety = future–focused
<<< BUT >>>
Gratitude = present-focused
Do not listen to the โwhat ifsโ.
((as if hearing the answer accomplishes anything more for your circumstance))
Choose instead to focus on โwhat isโ present already.
Grow a grateful mindset. โฆ
Intentionally shift everyday thoughts
from anxiety-centered to GRATITUDE-CENTERED.
โIn all things,
with prayer & thanksgiving,
make your requests known to God.โ
~ St. Paul ๐ค
God knows your โฅ๏ธ better than you know it. God loves you bigger & better than you love yourself.

Homily from the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. At Mass, you are not in the bleachers. You are on the field. You are in the game. We are kingdom priests. But do we know what we are saying? Do we know what we are praying? Mass Readings from October 17, 2024: Daniel 12:1-3 Psalms 16:5, 8, 9-11Hebrews 10:11-14, 18 Mark 13:24-32
